Governor Blunt is planning to defer 100 million dollars from Missouri universities.
Victor Roberto has more from the state Capitol.
Blunt's office announced plans to delay 100 million dollars of funding to the UM system and five other universities...something the governor hopes will help prevent a fiscal crisis.
The state will delay two-thirds of the money universities are expecting in the next three months until June.
Paul Sloca, a spokesperson for the governor, says the money will be paid back in full and the deferment's effects on the colleges will be limited.
Democrats say Blunt is breaking the promise he made during the State of the State address to not cut higher education.
From the state Capitol, I'm Victor Roberto.

Victor Roberto has more from the state Capitol.
The governor's office announced that he will defer 100 million dollars in state funding from five universities and the UM system.
The money accounts for two-thirds of money the universities are expecting in the next three months.
Blunt's office says the money will be repaid in June, after the state collects tax money.
Columbia Senator Chuck Graham says there is no guarantee the deferred money will be returned.
A spokesperson from the governor's office says the deferment will have no impact on tuition and that all the university presidents agreed to the plan.
