The Senate passed a bill Thursday expanding the powers of the Missouri State Water Patrol. Lindsay Shively has the story.
The Water Patrol would be able to make arrests and start investigations under a bill the Senate passed Thursday. Sen. Harold Caskey says it also takes their jusrisdiction beyond the water.
Under this bill, members of the Water Patrol would also be allowed to make arrests out of their jursidiction if the crime is committed in their presence.
The bill faced no opposition in the Senate and now moves to the House. From the State Capitol, I'm Lindsay Shively.

The Senate passed a bill Thursday that allows the Water Patrol to make arrests when crimes are committed in their presence. That means they can make arrests on and off the water. St. Charles Senator Chuck Gross says this could lead to a unified statewide force.
