Legislation designed to create jobs comes up for debate in the Missouri Senate.
Missy Shelton reports.
The bill would create the Jobs Now program recommended by Democratic Governor Bob Holden...The program would take money from several tax credit programs and redirect the funds to public infrastructure projects.
The bill sponsor is Democratic Senator Jim Mathewson.
The bill does have bi-partisan support.
Mathewson told senators during debate that even though the governor came up with the idea, he won't get credit for it since it won't take effect until after this November's election.
Mathewson's proposal is up for first round approval in the senate.
