PROMO's annual gay rights rally at the State Capitol attracted a crowd of two hundred. Darryl Franklin has more on this year's high turnout.

Missouri's gay and lesbian community expressed their frustration with recent measures taken by the House to more narrowly define marriage.
Representative Kevin Engler--one of the proponents of the bills restricting marriage--says legislation already exists to restrict the definition of marriage.
"We already have it in statute. We already have the law in the books. The only thing were trying to do with this resolution is take it to the vote of the people to put it in constitutional law to keep from happening what's happened in Massachusetts and other states."
Those other states now include Oregon which, this week, became the latest state to allow same sex marriages.

A higher turnout than usual showed up for PROMO's gay rights annual day at the Capitol. Darryl Franklin has more on the advocates dissapointment with recent actions to prevent gay marriage.

About two hundred people from accross the state came to the Capitol from across the state to express their dissapointment with legislators attempting to narrow the way the constitution defines marriage. PROMO member Ed Reggi says the House and Senate are wasting their time on the gay rights issue.
"Most Missourians believe there are far more important things to do right now when it come to law - changing laws or updating laws. I think that this is just you know, not necessary."
At least one lawmaker says that the majority of Missourians oppose gay marriage and there is a need to more narrowly define what the constitution's definition of marriage.
