A bill being pushed through the Senate would free small towns from all liability when fairs and festivals come through...But as Lindsay Shively reports, one Mid-Missouri lawmaker wants the small towns to be responsible for putting safety first.
With summer approaching, fairs and festivals will abound in small towns all over Missouri, but how safe will they be? A bill currently in the House says the small towns where these festivals are held won't be responsible for any deaths or injuries. Columbia Senator Ken Jacob says that could lead to problems.
Despite attempts from Jacob, the Senate voted to keep the language granting immunity to these small towns. The bill is now waiting on a final vote. From the state capitol, I'm Lindsay Shively.
