Currently no one in Missouri is receiving small pox vaccinations. Lynelle Phillips, public health adviser for the Center for Disease Control, says that the first phase of small pox vaccinations has been given.

Contents: We are not giving out small pox vaccinations right now. We have completed phase one of the small pox vaccination program, which was front line health care workers and public health personnel, and we have not begun phase two which would be emergency responders, police, fire department and emergency medical technicians.

In the spring, Missouri gave out 1,253 vaccinations.

Mary Martin, public health manager of Columbia and Boone County, says that they vaccinated 300 people. In fact, Boone County alone has given three times more small pox vaccinations than the state of Illinois.

Health care officials don't know when the second phase of small pox vaccines might start.
