The much maligned director of MoDOT announced his resignation today. Aidian Holder has the details.
Henry Hungerbeeler has presided over MoDOT during tough times, as Missouri roads deteriorated and the department was blamed for breaking promises to the public and squandering tax money. His resignation today comes after a scathing report by an independent panel said MoDOT needed to make major changes in its senior managment in order to regain its credibility with the public.
In his resignation letter, Hungerbeeler acknowledged the need for a change in MoDOT's leadership, but in person he defended his tenure at the department.
