The Director of the department of economic development gives an upbeat assessment of the state economy.
Joe Driskill, the director of the department of economic development, says there are many signs that indicate Missouri's economy is improving.
Driskill says more people are going to work, incomes are on the rise, the number of businesses in Missouri are growing, and that companies are moving back towards profitability.
But he says the recent economic growth has not yet had a positive impact on the state's budget:
General revenue collections net refunds decreased by 3.1% between fiscal years 2002 and 2003.
Driskill says the full impact of the expanding economy may not start to show up until the fall.
