Representative Russ Carnahan announced today he's quitting as House Democratic Caucus Chair to focus on a run for Congress.
Carnahan's already set up an exploratory committee to run for Missouri's 3rd district Congressional seat held by Democratic representative Dick Gephardt, who isn't seeking reelection.
Carnahan says he's quitting to devote even more time to his campaign.
St. Louis City representative Robin Wright-Jones will replace Carnahan as caucus chair.
