Governor Holden lobbies Senators for support of his budget plan

Governor Holden met with senate republicans to generate support for his budget plan, which includes tax increases to plug the budget shortfall.

The Governor emphasized the urgency to address the shortfall, given consituional deadline to pass a budget is less than a month away.

Holden says the House proposed plan which includes cuts with no tax increases would have too deep an impact on the state.

He asked for a response to his plan to cover the budget shortfall, which includes a combination of cuts and tax increases.

Senate Republican John Dolan says he would consider going to the voters with a revised gaming and cigarette tax, and says there is no number of cuts that will cover the budget shortfall.
