The House leaders stopped debate after the House voted to cut the size of the tax package.

Lawmakers voted to raise sales tax by three-eighths of a cent.

Those against the amendment say it's too small of an increase to make by significant.

But Representative Derio Gambaro from St. Louis City says the smaller sales tax increase will get more support from voters.
