Public Radio in Danger of Losing State Money

April 17, 2002
By: Ashley Hall
State Capital Bureau

The Senate is in the process of perfecting the public broadcasting budget, almost a month after the House perfected its version.

The House has allotted twenty-five percent of the money for radio.

The Senate, on the other hand, is currently planning to give public TV ninety-five thousand dollars and radio nothing, according to Senate appropriations staffer Marty Drewel.

Actuality:Marty Drewel
RunTime: 18
OutCue: public TV
Contents: The way the house has the money put in it will go into the broadcasting fund, which twenty-five percent would be used for grants to public radio stations. And my interpretation, if it goes the way the Senate is, that would all go to public TV.

The discrepency will be resolved after the Senate perfects its version of the budget.
