Mothers Against Drunk Driving want to enact stronger seatbelt laws

With alcohol-related traffic deaths on the rise, Mothers Against Drunk Driving want to make it easier for police officers to pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt.

Executive Director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Donald C. Otto says Mothers Against Drunk Driving will be working hard to increase the rate at which people wear seatbelts through education and the enacting of stronger seat belt laws.

This would allow officers to pull Missourians over simply for not wearing a seatbelt as opposed to the law as it is today which says in order for you to recieve a seatbelt violation you must have been pulled over for some other violation, such as speeding.

According to Otto this is one of the agencies top priorities.

BITE: "Nothing saves more lives than just taking that two and half seconds to reach over and buckle up, because that protects you against the drunken driver."

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the daily death toll typically rises during the Thanksgiving week-end, with an average of sixty seven alcohol-related traffic deaths, so buckle up and drive safely.
