A bill introduced in the House today would build a new St. Louis Cardinals baseball stadium and ballpark village.
Justin Herndon has the story.
The bill creates a sports commission to oversee building a new ballpark for 49-thousand redbird faithful.
Representative Jim Foley from St. Louis County says the state will pay nothing until the stadium is finished.
He says taxpayers will receive more benefits than burdens.
The bill also creates a luxury box for one lucky taxpayer at each game.

Not all St. Louis legislators support a new ballpark for the Cardinals.
Justin Herndon reports.
Representative Jim Murphy says its not fiscally responsible to build a new stadium at the expense of the state.
He says based on the revenue the current stadium produces it wouldn't be worth building a new one.
Bill sponsor Jim Foley says the stadium pays for itself with ticket sales and will have enough money left over to repair roads and fund education.

The sponsor of the cardinals stadium bill is staying mum just hours before he's expected to introduce his bill to the House. Justin Herndon has the story from Jefferson City:
St. Louis County Representative Jim Foley was refusing to talk with reporters this afternoon about the stadium bill.
Foley introduced the legislation last year and is expected to introduce a similar plan today.
House Republican Leader Catherine Hanaway will co-sponsor the bill and says the taxpayers would benefit.
Hanaway says she believes the bill has a 50-50 chance of full approval. In Jefferson City, Justin Herndon.
