The prices of flu vaccines will increase this year.

The prices on flu immunizations will increase this year.

Missouri Health Department says, due to the price change by the vaccine manufacturers, those who want and need to get a vaccination, will have to pay for it more than thay did last year. Vic Tomlinson from Health Department immunization services says the increase might be market driven.

Contents: Ric Tomlinson says according to what the vaccine manufacturers say the Health Department anticipates price increases on flu vaccinations this year.

As the flu season approaches, the issue of quantity and the prices of vaccinations will be particularly important for the groups that are especially vulnarable to flu infections.

The Health Department does not have information whether Medicare reimbursement will be enough to cover the increased price of the vaccine.

Missouri Health Department says it is not going to be untill the end of November that you can get a flu vaccination, unless you are in a high-risk priority group.

Vic Tomlinson from Health Department Immunizations services says the groups with special needs for vaccinations should get the flu shots first - that is, as soon as the vaccines arrive.
