JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Economic Development Department will hold a public meeting on tax credits Monday at 1 p.m. in Room 400 of the Harry S Truman State Office Building in Jefferson City.
The department is seeking public comment on changes to its tax credit programs in response to Gov. Bob Holden's order to trim $7.5 million of the programs for the coming fiscal year.
The 31 tax credits administered by Economic Development are used to offset costs related to community development, housing improvement, and business development.
A report issued by State Auditor Claire McCaskill said that it is virtually impossible to judge the value of tax credits.
People interested in giving oral testimony should call (573) 751-4962 to reserve a time to testify. Written testimony will be accepted until Oct. 10 at the Missouri Department of Economic Development, P.O. Box 1157, Jefferson City, Mo., 65102.
