The inauguration was dubbed "Bob Holden's" inauguration.
The Capitol was decorated and children watched the ceremonies from inside.
And Ronnie White, one of John Ashcroft's leading oppositions, gave the welcome address.
But, Secretary of State Matt Blunt, the lone Republican taking office, is still optimistic.
Blunt says that this administration can still get along as well as Carnahan's did.
Blunt also said that although there are ideological differences, both he and Holden are anxious to establish a good working relationship.

With four Democrats being sworn in yesterday as state officers, including governor Bob Holden, Secretary of State Matt Blunt may be looked upon as the loyal opposition.
He represents the lone Republican officer in the state.
But, Blunt says that is not his number one priority.
Blunt also stated that he doesn't think he will be left out in the cold because his ideas for the Secretary of State's office are nonpartisan.
