Kinder defends the Senate Republicans from Holden's accusations

Although Senate Republican leadership killed the governor's transportation bill, the President Pro Tem says he'll take charge of the issue.

Minutes after Governor Bob Holden accused Senate Republicans of betraying the will of people by killing his transportation tax package, President Pro Tem Peter Kinder says he'll lead the Missouri government to a compromise.

The 500 million dollar transportation plan died Thursday in the Senate after Majority Floor leader Bill Kenney said he would not bring it up for a vote.

The governor used several minutes of his post-session press conference to attack the Senate for the bill's failure.

The name-calling continues...as the governor uses his post-session press conference to attack Republican Senate leadership.

The governor accused Senate Republicans of betraying the will of the people by not putting his transportation package to a vote.

Earlier in the session, Governor Holden accused Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder of trying to kill his 500 million dollar transportation plan.

Kinder says the name calling is ridiculous.

The governor's transportation tax package died on the Senate floor Thursday when Majority Floor Leader Bill Kenney refused to bring the issue up for a vote.
