St. Louis may get a "serious" air quality label

A US District Court has ordered a review of St. Louis' air quality. Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.

St. Louis lawmakers say they will send a resolution to the EPA asking them to back off and give the state time to clean up the air.

Republican representative, David Levin, supports the resolution and says the EPA should wait until 2003 to conduct its review.

Hundreds of St. Louis businesses could be affected if the Environmental Protection Agency slaps St. Louis with a "serious" air quality label. Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.

The EPA will decide in March whether the city's air quality rating should be changed from moderate to serious. Democratic representative Harold Selby says that the auto industry in St. Louis may be hit hard if the change occurs.
