A compromise reached in the Senate breathes new life into creating a prescription drug progam for the elderly of Missouri.
The Republican-Controlled Senate Health Committee approved a bill that is a compromise of the Senate bills that were proposed and the recommendations of the prescription drug task force and its democratic chariman, Lt. Governor Joe Maxwell.
A difference pointed out by Lt. Governor Maxwell was that the compromised bill did not include details about Medicaid provisions which are included in the task-force's recommendations.
But the Senate committee declared that Medicaid provisions of the bill will be introduced as an amendment on the Senate floor.
The result is a beginning for the legislature in addressing prescription drug needs and a victory for the elderly to get the adequte help that they need.
