The leader of the Senate says the governor has been disrespectful

The Republican leader of the Senate says he will exact revenge on the govenor for a lack of respect. This came after the governor insulted the Republican's transportation plan.

Senate leader, Peter Kinder, replaced the governor's transportation plan with a proposal of his own.

The governor responded by calling it a "blueprint for disaster" that is fiscally irresponsible.

When told of the governor's reponse, Kinder was visibly upset.

Contents: Kinder says it is disrespectful and that he can expect retribution. When asked how that will manifest itself, he said it will manifest itself in the blocking of the governor's legislation.

He also said the govenor's prescription drug plan that was passed out of the House is dead.

The leader of the Missouri Senate, Republican Peter Kinder, says there is not a transportation crisis in the state. Today/Thursday he replaced the governor's transportation plan with a plan of his own, upsetting the governor, who says there is a crisis.

Senator Kinder's transportation plan would raise 400 million dollars, without increasing taxes. He says this is a much more responsible proposal than the governor's, which would be one of the largest tax increases in state history.

Three people die on Missouri roads each day according to the state highway patrol.

The governor says if the state doesn't spend enough money the problems won't be fixed.

And he adds... his plan goes before the people, allowing them to vote down a tax hike.

The governor says he hopes to get some cooperation from the Republican Senate leadership on some of his legislation, especially on transportation and prescription drugs for seniors. But the Senate leader says he won't get any help.

Governor Holden appealed to the Senate leadership to debate his transportation plan, he also says he wants the Senate to move on another issue he's pushing.

But that's not likely to happen according to Senate leader Peter Kinder.
