Julie Kroenig has the details in Jefferson City.
The Cold Weather Rule restricts utility companies from shutting off heat to residents when the temperature falls before 30 degrees.
Due to high gas prices from last year, many households are currently without gas.
So, the Public Service Commission is considering adding a emergency rule to help the 29,000 households without gas and the other 50,000 who are facing disconnection.
Since its inception in 1977, 2 million needy customers have been served.

Julie Kroenig has the story in Jefferson City.
Due to high natural gas prices last year, many homes are without gas service or are facing disconnection.
The Cold Weather Rule restricts gas companies from shutting off gas only to those homes who had gas at the beginning of the winter.
The Public Service Commission is considering adding another provision, an emergency rule-due to last year's high prices.
