One Missouri lawmaker wants to make charter schools live up to the same requirements established for traditional public schools. Jenny Hoff has more from the state capital.
Kansas City Senator Mary Bland is sponsoring a bill to withhold funding from charter schools who don't meet state set standards.
She says the underprivileged children who attend charter schools deserve at least equal schooling to other children.
Bland says charter schools will do nothing but harm the children if they're not required to meet traditional standards.

A representative from the state's second largest school district is urging the state to make charter schools meet the same regulations the state's public schools follow. Jenny Hoff has more from the state capitol.
Bill Wares, a lobbyist for the Kansas City Missouri School District told a Senate committee it's unfair that money is taken away from public schools and given to charter schools who don't have to live up to traditional standards.
Wares said that if charter schools are going to receive state funding, they should have to follow the same restrictions as all other schools in the state.
Wares spoke in favor of a bill that will withhold funding from charter school's that fail to meet accreditation standards.
