The game isn't over yet, but there's several strikes against the state providing money to build a new stadium this year...Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.
Governor Holden met with Cardinals owners at the Capitol on Monday to gain support for a new stadium. The Governor's spokesman Jerry Nachtigal says there's not much hope for state money to spend on the stadium this year. Nachtigal says the Governor wants the plan to benefit downtown St. Louis.
Nachtigal says the Governor's representatives will meet with owners over the next few weeks to discuss a more beneficial plan. But with only four weeks to go it is doubtful the state will fund the project this year. From Jefferson City, I'm Michelle Wirth.
It looks like the last inning...at least this year, for state funding of a new Cardinals stadium. Michelle Wirth has more from Jefferson City.
With less than four weeks till the end of the legislative session Cardinals owners met with Governor Bob Holden, on Monday, to gain support for the stadium. The governor's spokesperson says the meeting was positive, but there's not enough state money this year.
Nachtigal says the Governor is supportive of a new stadium but he wants a project that helps redevelop St. Louis, rather than simply benefiting the owners. For KMOX News, I'm Michelle Wirth.
