Control of Lambert St. Louis airport would be transferred to a regional board under a Senate bill

The city of St. Louis would lose control over Lambert Airport if the Senate passes a bill transferring power to a regional board.

Cara Karunaratne has more from Jefferson City.

The bill creates a regional board to govern all airports in the St. Louis region...in an effort to give the whole region a voice in airport decisions.

Senator Chuck Gross, D-St. Louis, says this bill is not trying to interfere with the T-W-A and American Airlines merger.

This is not the first time the Senate has tried to pass legislation to create a regional board.

Gross says the language in his bill is different, and hopes there is enough support for it to pass this year.

A Senate bill would create a regional board to govern all airports in the St. Louis area...which would give the whole region a voice in airport decisions.

St. Louis Senator Chuck Gross says the language in this year's bill sets it apart from a similar bill that did not pass last year.

He says he hopes there is enough support in the Senate this year to pass the bill.
