St. Louis County Senator John Schneider says eight years just isn't enough time for state legislators to get adequate experience.
If approved by the House, the decision on twelve year term limits goes to the voters in the 2001 April election.

The Missouri Senate has approved a new loophole for legislators to bypass term limits.

The Senate voted to revise and extend legislative term limits from eight to twelve years.
But St. Charles Senator Ted House says wording in the bill allows innovative legislators to serve beyond the twelve year limit.
Despite the senator's concern, the Senate passed the bill on to the House by a twenty-one to eleven vote.
