Republicans voice opposition to Democrat highway proposal

A Democratic plan to resolve Missouri's highway problems met with Republican oppositon in a committee hearing today/Wednesday in Jefferson City. Jessica Carter has the story.

Democratic Representative Don Koller introduced a bill that would authorize the issue of two billion dollars in bonds over a six year period.

Opponents of the bill agree that Missouri needs to resolve transportation problems, but say this plan isn't enough.

Republican Jewell Patek says Koller's bill is only a temporary solution to a big problem and the Republican plan is better.

Republican opponents say the bill would only put a bandaid on a problem that needs a cure. They agree that something must be done for the state's transportation system and expect this to be an issue that affects Missouri's future.
