Republican Presidential nominee George W. Bush gained twice as many votes as Democratic nominee Al Gore in the Missouri Farm Bureau's annual State Fair. Republican John Ashcroft was the favorite for the U.S. Senate seat, while Jim Talent held a significant edge over Democratic candidate Bob Holden for governor. The Republican party's state spokesman Darrel Duwe.
But, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Holden puts little credence into the results, even though the poll has been accurate in 90% of its predictions over the past 20 years.
