In a closed-door session, Democrats elected the same leaders as the previous legislature.

But unlike last year, they won't be the majority party when the session begins.

Right now, the Senate is tied at 17 members per party.

But, with resignations looming, Republicans will likely take control.

Democratic Senator Jim Mathewson says he's taking a wait-and-see approach.

The Republicans hold 17 seats. The Democrats also hold 17.

The Republicans will take a one seat advantage when senators who've won other offices resign.

But, Democratic Senator Jim Mathewson says that doesn't mean lawmakers won't get anything done.
