Republican Senator John Russell says the state needs to stop the Department of Revenue from selling motor vehicle records to private companies for solicitation purposes.
The department is currently allowed to release this information, as long as the driver has not requested that these details be withheld.
Russell said that a number of people have complained to him about the ease with which private businesses can access their personal information.
