The dozen prosecutors, sheriffs and lawmakers were all Democrats.

They argue Carnahan signed the strongest anti-meth law in the country two years ago.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch says the group supports any Democrat or Republican who voted for the meth law.

OutCue: "just not accurate."
Contents: I think everybody has come to expect, right or wrong, some negative campaigning. But this ad is so off the mark that if anybody got up and said about this legislation what that ad says, yes, this whole group would get up saying that's just not the case.

But, a spokesman for the Ashcroft campaign calls the meeting a transparent attack by the Democrats.

The collection of Democratic sherrifs, prosecutors and lawmakers say the Ashcroft ad is simply dishonest.

Citing a bill signed by Carnahan two years ago, the group says he gave Missouri one of the toughest meth laws in the United States.

Buchanan County Prosecutor Dwight Scroggins asked Ashcroft to pull the ad completely.

OutCue: "continuing the ad."
Contents: Scroggins says the senator should look at it and say you're *right, it's misleading, it's incorrect, it's inaccurate and inexact. And we consequently are withdrawing from continuing the ad.

But a spokesman for Aschroft's campaign says the commercial's content is not dishonest and stands by the ad.
