The Equal Rights Amendment Gets Committee Approval

The proposal that would make Missouri the 36th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment divides lawmakers along party lines.

The House Critical Issues Committee gave its approval to the Equal Rights Amendment.

The committee vote went straight down party lines with female Republicans voting against it.

The sponsor of the proposal Deleta Williams says she finds it difficult to understand why any woman would oppose the E-R-A.

Concerned Women of America, a conservative group spoke in opposition to the E-R-A at the public hearing on the bill.
