For most of the 20th century, birds had a celebrated day in the state of Missouri. Senator Stephen Stoll would like to see that day back on the calender.

Actuality:Stoll
RunTime: 12s
OutCue: "bird day in Missouri."
Contents: Stoll says there are so many people in Missouri who dearly love to watch birds and feed birds and everything else that it would be a good proposal to reestablish bird day in Missouri.

Stoll's prefiled legislation would designate March 21 as "Bird Appreciation Day." State agencies, schools, and civic organizations would be encouraged to partake in activities promoting Missouri birds on the day.

Stoll was approached by a leader of Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri asking for the Bird Day Bill. Stoll said that bird day was acknowledged in Missouri until 1973.

From Jefferson City, I'm Rodger Oakes.
