Carnahan, Ashcroft face off on Judge White issue

Governor Carnahan had some harsh words today for Senator John Ashcroft, in the wake of the Senate vote against Missouri Supreme Court judge Ronnie White. Lee McGuire has more from Jefferson City.

Calling the Senate's vote political, Governor Carnahan accused Senator Ashcroft of deliberately derailing his nomination of Judge White to the federal bench.

A spokesman for Senator Ashcroft said the vote was based on Judge White's record, not on political considerations. Ashcroft and Carnahan will be facing off for the same senate seat in the 2000 elections. In Jefferson City, Lee McGuire, KMOX News.
