JEFFERSON CITY - The Governor's Mansion will undergo an eerie metamorphosis Wednesday night, complete with a giant 30-ft. spider on the roof and looney characters in the garden.
The seventh annual Mansion SPOOKtacular, hosted by Gov. Mel Carnahan and First Lady Jean Carnahan, will begin at 5 p.m. at the Governor's Mansion and Garden. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
In addition to the traditional haunted house, this year's Mansion SPOOKtacular will include a Halloween show featuring Bugs Bunny and Friends, as well as a hay maze, a magician, a storyteller and an 8 p.m. fireworks display.
Children are encouraged to dress up for the event. Halloween candy and books from the Scholastic Book Company, which is based in Jefferson City, will be handed out throughout the evening.
