St. Louis City and County Senators quickly quashed an amendement that would have potentially shut down the Transworld Dome. Lori Prichard has the latest from Jefferson City.
Republican Senator Sarah Steelman from Rolla introduced legislation that would have halted state payments on bonds that backed the standium's expansion. Steelman said the twelve million dollars should go to children and not sports teams.
But, Republican Senator Betty Sims argued the dome isn't just for sports. She said the dome is used to generate tourism for both the city and the state.
Democratic Senator John Scott threatened Steelman with a filibuster.
With continued bantering from other St. Louis senators, Steelman promptly withdrew her amendment.
