St. Louis Senator Franc Flotron says he's trying to help work out relations between St. Louis and Bridgeton over Lambert Airport's expansion plan. Karyn Dest reports from Jefferson City.
Senator Flotron has called for a meeting between Bridgeton Mayor Conrad Bowers and St. Louis Mayor Clarence Harmon.
Flotron says they can accomplish more by talking with each other than by arguing in a courtroom.
The two mayors haven't spoken at all regarding Lambert's expansion plan, although a spokesman for Mayor Harmon's office says their staffs have communicated.
The spokesman also says a meeting between the two mayors may not be possible because litigation is still pending in a federal court.

St. Louis County Senator Franc Flotron says the mayors of Bridgeton and St. Louis should talk one on one about Lambert Airport expansion plans. Karyn Dest reports from Jefferson City.
It was during a Senate committee meeting that Senator Flotron first suggested bringing Bridgeton Mayor Conrad Bowers and St. Louis Mayor Clarence Harmon together. The two cities are at odds over where to build a new runway.
Mayor Bowers says he talked to Flotron about the meeting, but they didn't discuss specifics.
Scheduling a meeting between Bowers and Harmon could be difficult. A spokesman for Harmon says a federal suit still pending might interfere with bringing the two sides together.
