Carnahan is trying to keep the legislature from overriding his veto of the abortion bill. He will meet with anti-abortion lobbyist Louis Defeo next week.Some Republicans are criticial of Carnahan. Republican Senator Steve Ehlmann says the governor's planned meetinf with Defeo is a last-ditch effort.
The governer agreed to meet with Defeo to talk about their opposing positions on the abortion bill. The legisture meets to consider an override September 15.
