Missouri counties are fighting the state for road improvement funds

Missouri counties are trying to redistribute funding to fix roads in an appeal to the Supreme Court Thursday. Kristin Marinec has that story from Jefferson City.

The Missouri Association of Counties urged the Supreme Court to return tax money to counties for improvement on roads and bridges.

The state is currently using the money for taxpayer refunds.

The association's President Gene Pogue says a portion of this money is desperately needed at the local level.

The state says motor vehicle taxes are part of total state revenue and by law should contribute to taxpayer refunds. From the State Capitol, I'm Kristin Marinec.

Boone County Public Works Director Frank Abart says this money is desperately needed.
