The debate on whether the partial-birth abortion bill will provide a defense for violence against abortion doctors continues in Jefferson City. Aaron Cummins has that story--
Senate Sponsor of the bill Ted House of St. Charles says that the bill will not allow violence against abortion doctors.
House says that the governor's charges are part of a smokescreen to hide the real issue -- that the bill simply prohibits the killing of a baby while it is being born.
Lobbyist Lou DeFeo says that if someone kills an abortion doctor that person will go to jail and this bill will not provide a defense.

Catholic lobbyist Lou DeFeo says the governor is lying to Missourians. Aaron Cummins has that story from Jefferson City--
DeFeo says that Governor Carnahan is confusing people with his statements about the partial-birth abortion bill.
DeFeo says the bill doesn't provide a defense for violence against abortion doctors.
DeFeo says he fears people will hear the governor's charge and believe there is a legal defense for killing an abortion doctor.
Senate sponsor of the bill Ted House says the bill does not even bring up the violence issue.
The bill will be discussed by the legislature during next week's veto override session.
