The Missouri Legislature has approved an appropriations bill that's likely to cut off funding to some family planning services. Lee McGuire reports from Jefferson City.

When the House passed bill number 10, it dealt a big blow to Planned Parenthood.

A Senate amendment to that bill guarantees that organization will get no money from the state, no matter how it tries to distance itself from abortion services.

Democrat Mike Schilling says that sets a bad precident.

The Missouri legislature has passed a measure that's likely to cut off state funding to Planned Parenthood. Lee McGuire has more from Jefferson City.

Restricting funds for family planning services was only part of the massive appropriations bill passed in the House.

But it drew the most debate, by far. The Senate spent six hours on the subject last month. In the House, Democrat Mike Schilling said the cutting off money for organizations because they provide abortion services is unconstitutional.

Although Schilling voted for the appropriations measure, he said he may challenge the family planning language in court.
