The Missouri Senate passed a bill to give legislators an increase in the daily expense allowance of lawmakers. Naomi Smith has the story from the state capital.
A bill to increase the legislators daily expense allowance passed in the full senate.
The bill would raise the current daily allowance from $35 to $86.
But an amendment to allow lawmakers to receive free meals from lobbyists was also introduced.
Senator Mike Lybyer, the sponsor of the bill, strongly opposed the amendment.
The Senate's top leader ruled the amendment out of order so there wasn't even a vote on the lobbyist issue. But the Senate did approve a per diem increase. From the state capital, I'm Naomi Smith.
