The Missouri Conservation Department says quail numbers are growing.
Populations have doubled in northeastern Missouri and quadrupled in the north-central region since last year.
However, bad conditions in the Ozarks have kept state-wide numbers below the 10-year average.
Jim Low, spokesman for the Conservation Department says the results have a mixed message.
Quail season begins November first and ends January fifteenth.
