House Debates Bill to Prevent the Spread of HIV

A measure up for consideration in the House would allow HIV tests to be given after being arrested for prostitution.

The House debated a bill that would allow anyone arrested for prostitution to be tested for HIV, before they are found guilty of any crime.

Opposition came from both sides of the aisle.

Representative Tim Van Zandt argued it's an issue of constitutional rights.

But bill sponsor Representative Craig Hosmer said the testing is needed to take a tough stance against the spread of HIV.
