Many more of Missouri's working poor would be able to provide health insurance for their children under a measure approved by the Senate Tuesday. Jung Wha yoon has the details from Jefferson City.
The bill targets children whose parents make too much money to qualify for medicaid...but can't afford the full cost of private insurance.
Kansas City Representative Scott Lakin sponsored the House version of the bill.
Lakin says the goal of the bill is to expand access to coverage but Republican opponents of the bill say it just expands welfare.
The bill now goes to a House Senate Conference Committee as the legislative session begins to wind down.
