The House votes to spend tax payer money on building car inspection stations in St. Louis.

State house lawmakers, after lengthy debate, voted to add to the budget, money to build car inspection stations in St.Louis.
The provision was in response to the EPA's finding that the city is out of compliance with ozone air quality standards.
Bill sponsor, University City representative Sheila Lumpe, says the measure was necessary to help those with asthma and other illnesses.
Other state representatives said that the bill would only satisfy the EPA bureaucrats, and would not guarantee cleaner air.

Missouri house representatives, after lengthy debate, voted to use tax payer money to build car inspection stations in St.Louis.
The provision was in response to an EPA mandate to clean-up the air quality in the city.
The legislature had 18 months to come up with a plan before the EPA imposed sanctions.
But, representative Phil Tate said that waiting would have been bad for St. Louis businesses.
Other lawmakers, however, said that the bill does not guarentee cleaner air but only satisfies EPA buracrates.
