SENATE MUST DECIDE ON OWN PAY RAISE

HOW THE SENATE DECIDES ON THEIR OWN PAY INCREASES HIGHLIGHTS THE OPENING SPEECH GIVEN BY SENATE LEADER BILL McKENNA. JENNIFER HORTON HAS MORE FROM JEFFERSON CITY.
NEWLY ELECTED SENATE LEADER BILL McKENNA SAYS THE SENATE WILL HAVE TO DEAL QUICKLY WITH THE ISSUE OF THEIR OWN PAY RAISES.
DURING HIS SPEECH, McKENNA SAID THE LEGISLATURE MAY HAVE THE FINAL SAY ON SALARY INCREASES.
THE TIE WOULD BE BROKEN BY LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR ROGER WILSON, WHO IS THE DEMOCRAT'S NEXT LIKELY CHOICE FOR GOVERNOR.

NEWLY ELECTED SENATE LEADER, BILL McKENNA, SAYS MANY CHALLENGES FACE THE SENATE DURING THIS NEW LEGISLATIVE SESSION.
AMONG THE ISSUES McKENNA SAYS ARE TOP PRIORITY IS WHETHER THE LEGISLATURE ITSELF WILL RECEIVE A WAGE-INCREASE.
THE DEADLINE SET FOR THE PAY-RAISE DECISION IS FEBUARY FIRST.
