In Missouri, we have a state bird, a state tree and even a state rock. But there's no state fish or state mammal. Susan Batt tells us how this might change.
Monday night the House Agri-Business committee unanimously agreed with students from the Mid-American Wildlife 4-H group that Missouri should have three new state animals. Catfish for state fish. White-tailed deer for state mammal. And Paddlefish for state aquatic animal.
Eleven year-old David Vinyard told how his 4-H group studied the animals to determine which should represent the state.
Next the full-house must decide whether these animals are worthy of state distinction.
