The five year Telecommunications battle is nearly at a close as the bill heads to the governor's desk. Kimberly Lohman reports.
Without a single amendment to a complex telecommunications bill, the House overwhelmingly approved a measure to open competition among competing telephone and cable companies in Missouri. House bill sponsor Carol Jean Mays says with one exception, most of the cable and telephone companies cooperated in gathering support for the bill.
In spite of AT&T's opposition, and claims that the bill would raise rates for GTE and United customers, the Public Service Commission says the Telecom bill ultimately protects consumers from price-gouging.
From the state capitol, I'm Kimberly Lohman.
