The GOP has taken the offensive in the debate over cutting taxes, blaming the Democrats for stalling a bill to cut the food tax. Kimberly Lohman in Jefferson city has the story.
A press release from the House Republican Leader's office charges the Governor and the Democrats don't really want to give tax relief. GOP Senate Leader Frank Flotron says that Democrats are afraid of free and open debate.
Over on the House side, the Democratic Ways and Means committee chairman says he wants to avoid floor debate over the bill because Republicans would weigh it down with amendments.
But Flotron says that strategy is undemocratic.
From the state capitol, I'm Kimberly Lohman.
